[[underlined]] GOS Ranch to Terry Place

Aug. 20 [[/underlined]]. Got our man to haul our stuff over the North Star Mesa and down into the Terry Canyon as far as he could go with the team. Here we camped in beautiful [[red checkmark]] yellow pine woods to wait for the pack outfit & sent our team & man back to Silver City.

[[underlined]] Aug. 21 [[/underlined]], Hotchkiss & his nephew came over in morning with 8 horses & a mule & moved camp over onto Big Rocky Creek about 5 miles farther north. This is a [[insertion]] [[red checkmark]] Pseudotsuga taxifolia [[/insertion]] yellow pine & [[red checkmark]] douglas spruce gulch at 8000 feet with a good stream of clear cold water, steep rocky sides covered with timber, a mixture of [[insertion]] P. eduli [[/insertion]] nut pine [[insertion]] J. monosperma [[/insertion]] Juniper oaks and [[red checkmark]] yellow pine on south slopes, [[red checkmark]] Yellow pine [[red checkmark]] douglas [[red underlined]] spruce [[/red underlined]] & pinus flexilis on cold slopes. A few [[insertion]] Populus tremuloides [[/insertion]] [[red underlined]] Aspens [[/insertion]] begin a mile or two above in cold gulches and [[red underlined]] Populus [[insertion]] n [[/insertion]] augustifolia [[/red underlined]] follow up the creek a mile or two above camp. There is abundance of good grass over the ridges on both sides & lots of [[red underlined]] wild [[strikethrough]] oats [[/strikethrough]] chess [[/red underlined]] in places.
