day when Pearson sent for him and Ralston said "I have to go see Pearson," and picked up quite a fat folder and added, "I always take this with me in the hope that I can get a decision out of him on a number of matters. Some of them are six months old but he always ducks them."

I had the job of getting Pearson to okay the joint diesel study by GE-NH people. Toward the end, I was trying to get Pearson to give us the okay. He said the trouble was that if the study showed large advantages for Diesel, that GE could put on the heat and we would have to buy some. That was too much for me. I replied that I should think that he, as the operating head, would want to buy some and take credit for taking a large step forward in modernizing motive power.

I'm glad you got in a good trip last year and I hope your wife is much better and soon will be ready for another.

We have moved again. My wife has osteoporosis--a weakening of the body's bone structure. She cannot walk without help. Our son had a large house and we converted the two-car garage into a bedroom and bathroom and hooked it up with a room in the main house.
When you make a trip by car, you should see California.
