[[clipping glued to page]] [[image: photo of a small electric locomotive in rail yard, with lettering on the side: "NEW HAVEN, 041;" pantograph extended to power line.]] ELECTRIC PASSENGER LOCOMOTIVE 041 One of a group of 41 locomotives built for the orginal electrification project in 1906-08 . . . and still in service . . . some of them having traveled upwards of 1,400,000 miles. These locomotives were built for passenger service, and are capable of hauling 350 tons at 70 m.p.h. Specifications: Wheel arrangement, 1-b-b-1; having four [[strikethrough]]500[[/strikethrough]] ^[[250]] HP motors, with total capacity of 1000 HP; weight on drivers 169,000 lbs.; total weight 220,000 lbs.; maximum tractive effort 19,600 lbs. Since the advent of heavier steel equipment these locomotive have been used almost always in pairs, controlled by one engineer.
