at Maurice's suggestion. The Frazers never reciprocated in any way, so I figured Mrs. F. wanted to travel in the Erie 400. I don't think Bill cares much for it but suspect she's a snob. Maybe not; she was lovely the night she was with us.

Henry Guy recounted some of his poker experiences today, all when he "was rich." I guess Henry was worth a million too before the '29 crash. Says they played $25 limit; sometimes he was $6000 ahead. Their expenses alone for their poker games amounted to a couple of thousand a year for liquor etc. Told about Jacobson (I think) former head of our St. Louis Office who was invited out to a poker game by some millionaire customers, when he sat down they shoved a pile of chips at him & said they were $1000.00 He suffered tortures almost losing his pile but finally came back and won $6000. Then the rest announced they were playing (as usual) for 1%!

We got the order for 10 electrical equipments for the Pennsy. Today $1,800,000 odd which is a godsend as the plant is in very bad shape. 

Went to the Hoffran tonight, taking the Colonel and the Parkinsons. To all of us, the place is definitely slower than last year - since Fritz left, it lacks a quality of movement, of swing and spontaneity it had with him. The new head man, a good ring for Lionel Barrymore, isn't bad but it just doesn't click as it did. Even the quartet doesn't seem as good.

We were speculating about the reasons for the Parkinsons consistently seeming to shun social life with "the gang"--don't know why but they never are seen or heard of as a couple.  Perk is a fine
