Found out today that the New Haven cab ventilation tests won't be run off till after my vacation so I shant have to go to N.Y. this week or next, a relief, as I pictured myself missing the concert at Chautauqua tomorrow and "Traviata" next Monday. My New Haven job is about cleaned up and Maurice wants me to get some preliminary work done on a 6000 HP 3000 volt job for the New York Central electrification report Totten is making. Then there's the diesel stuff waking up, so guess will be busy. But things are slow--damned slow!

Roger has spent the greater part of two days helping Mr. Larson paint his house and garage, working steadily hour after hour and thrilled to pieces. Last night even his hair was matted with yellow paint, but he was very much satisfied. We see little of Bab these days except at meal time. She is at Dorothy Jeans a lot--very intimate with a former sworn enemy. She is sweet and pretty as a picture and plump too.

Jack Walker of the Illinois Central breezed into town today unexpectedly and spent the day at the plant. Had luncheon with him, Cash and Maurice at the Erie Club. Jack usually has an interesting fund of anecdotes and happenings on the railroad. This time was no exception.  His stories ran from hauling 178 car train
