orchestra. Walter is the man of all talent here - lifeguard, dishwasher, iceman, busboy, ox driver, motor boat mechanic, et al. a short stocky, dark native in his twenties. Walter's orchestra consisted of four pieces, Walter playing the piano, sometimes standing up. Walter is reputed to play five instruments and to be unable to read a note of music. But could they put out the music. Beer, ale, & soft drinks furnished refreshment and the party got quite snappy before closing at midnight.

Willie was immobile all day and unable to walk alone and only with pain with aid of a chair she pushed ahead of her. So we had a rather unhappy day. I got in a set of tennis with Mr. Bowers, our next door neighbor, who is Asst. Counsel for the N.Y. Transit Commission. He is a corker of a player although out of practice and trimmed me 7-5. Then he gave me a couple of Scotch highballs and sent one to Willie but it didn't help her very much. Took the children swimming this afternoon & Bab gets better and better. She swam out to the float with her duck and swam around the float for short distances without it. The deep water at the float doesn't seem to faze her a bit.
