Jean Stewart: Our plump, just a trifle sloppy, friendly blonde waitress for twelve days. Jean was born and raised in India of American missionary parents, now going to college in the U.S.A. Jean was very patient with the children, and it took patience to take care of Rog at the table - he was finicky. Jean acted as a life guard for the youngsters too. Couldn't find out much about Jean - she seemed a bit diffident sometimes but of course there wasn't much chance to get chummy with the waitresses, all college girls but one, Mary Jane, a pretty little youngster who stayed with the kids the night we went to the barn dance at Orford. She had no parents, and lived with some family nearby who apparently was glad to get rid of her for the summer. It was rather pathetic.

Mary: Just Mary - I never knew her last name. She was our waitress for the last three days when they shifted things to even them up when several families left. But Mary was one of the most attractive and intelligent looking girls I have seen. A rather lean face, not pretty but fine, gray eyes, light brown hair, a beautiful strong figure, and fast and accurate as a machine. She too seemed a bit diffident and when Roger was applying the seven dwarf's names to the waitresses, Mary took "Bashful". It was a picture to see her stand gracefully, hands folded, attentive with a diffident, deferential smile, taking orders.

Becky: She was the other waitress in our dining room and strangely, Rog took a great fancy to her. Physically, she was the least attractive of the three but Rog said he "liked her looks" and he was not shaken in his homage the whole time we were there.
