for the departure of Mr. Taft and Mimi Cermian, the Bowers attractive young friend, dark and Frenchy. The rest of the Tafts are staying for two more weeks & he will come back to get them. I promised to look him up in New York & certainly shall for he is one prince. The Shiffletts are leaving in the morning early for Quebec too. They proved to be a nice couple after you got acquainted with them. We had a swell bridge session at our cabin with them one night.

Today was rather an unfortunate day proving there can be trouble in paradise. I got in one set of singles with Mrs. Asche this morning - had her 5-1 and 30-love when Bab appeared and demanded I take them swimming. It upset me so, I let her have the next two points but pulled out and beat her 6-1. Then we went swimming. I took the row boat out and spent a half hour in it waiting for Bab to make her mind up to jump off the spring board so I could get a movie shot of her. She finally let me down and I didn't go in at all. This afternoon I went up to the tennis courts and watched Mrs. Asche & Bob Simon play a couple of excellent sets of singles. Then Bab & Rog appeared and made it so hot for me, I had to leave to take them swimming without getting in a stroke. Had one dip to the float when Roger's new "Ducky Daddles" sprang a leak and I had to take him back to the cottage to get some adhesive tape to repair it. That shot my swimming for the rest of the afternoon. This evening, Mrs. Asche invited Willie & me to play bridge with her and Mrs. Melcher.
