Friday, Sept. 9, '38.
Today makes a genuine two months of diary and I congratulate myself.  Nothing much exciting at the office today.  Rudy Krape was mad because when the New York Central diesel specs. arrived today, Maurice turned them over to Perk to "coordinate" the various jobs, although we are bound now to play hand and glove with Alco and Rudy [[underlined]] is [[/underlined]] Alco in Erie.  I cooked up some ideas for Cash Davis for his AIEE talks this fall on his west coast tour.
This evening we drove to the Peninsula and watched the fireworks across the harbor, celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Perry's victory, a three day jubilee here.  The more famous celebration is being held at Sandushy which is near Put-In Bay, and Erie is much insulted since Perry built his fleet here and both left and returned here before & after the battle.
Am still troubled with headaches and am sure it's my eyes, so believe after I get back from New York next week will get some new glasses.  Did some more work on Uzzell just the same this evening.  Also read the Post critically and found old Uzzell's principles functioning pretty consistently in it.  The dramatic conflict particularly was good.

The much planned "house party" for the Book Club came off today only it wasn't a house party after all but merely a buffet supper out at the Klund Cottage followed by games and general hilarity.  And it was a pippin of a party although Jake Brauns wasn't there as host, having to leave town at 6 PM on business.  However, Ethel acted as hostess & general supervisor in her
