(2.) Zimmer is to become Asst. Mgr. of the Transportation Dept. of the New York District, or is slated for Keyes job.  Keyes is back at work but pretty shaky.

(3.) Bob Walsh on the tests.  Jay says he couldn't understand why I brought him; he's been wise to him since 1927 when they were in the Gt. Northern together and Bob spent so much time in Seattle where his wife was, instead of on the job.  On the run yesterday from Bay Ridge to Oak Pt., about an hour, Jim persuaded Bob to take two readings, although they were supposed to read every 5 minutes.  Jim says Bob was actually afraid to go down the equipment aisle and would run like a scared rabbit every time the JR would pop or contactors bark hard.

(4.) Felix and his social campaign in Erie. Jay inquired as to progress. Jim opined Felix would go broke trying "to keep up with the Jones'es." Jay agreed Felix is a hard worker.

We met Bob and Alf at Grand Central trying to get reservations on #21.  Nothing but uppers, - or there was a drawing room available - would that help us?  Bob was all for it.  I thought, yes, with you in the lower, one of us in the upper and the other on the scanty couch, and split even on the expense! I said I'd rather take an upper and Bob was provoked but I didn't give a damn.  We all got uppers.

A couple of incidents that were very revealing of Bob:

(1.)  Getting into the train at New Haven, he had two bags and I had two and a brief case.  When we got on the platform of the coach, the door was not latched open and Bob had quite a time trying to manoeuvre the two big bags through the door until a Union
