The other day, a draft of Sibert's report on Michigan Alkali small diesels came in for Jake to check before Si submitted it so I sent it to Blakeslee at New Orleans, telling him to hand it to Jake immediately on his arrival as Si wanted a telegraphic answer. Today I got a brief note from Jake at New Orleans thanking me for reading it and saying he had wired Si an okay and it was sent [[underlined]] air mail. [[/underlined]] No one could understand why the air mail. Jake is going through the southeast now with Frank Kroner and is due back the middle of next week. I'm just wondering if Jake is doing some of my job although I know if there is urgent work there, he naturally should do it. Rudy said today, "Jake flew from Chicago to New Orleans. Well, he's happy now; he has plenty of travelling." It sounded a little critical and was funny, as everyone knows Rudy himself is a bear for travel, getting away at every opportunity. Personally, I think Jake is entitled to everything good he's getting for most of the weight for the small locos falls on him. Rudy just hopes Jake doesn't "get himself in trouble" down there; he does "too much to get an order sometimes." Rudy, of course, apparently doesn't do enough, because he loses them right and left. "Doc" Gillilan is crabbing because Jake "squirrels" all the dope on the small locos, apparently wanting to keep it all to himself. Well, only time will tell, but I think and hope Jake will turn out okay on it.

My latest colored movie reel came back and tonight, borrowed Don MacLeod's projector and showed it, the Downie's coming in for bridge and the show. The pictures again were perfect and some of the peninsula autumn ones simply wows! My first splicing job on the Shanty Shane
