That set it off and after Maurice hung up, I heard him say, "I'll have any of these men I please call me on this job! I'm getting god damn sick and tired of you coming in here and belly aching to me about this, and somebody else about that!" But Perk and Maurice have periodic battles and I guess this was no worse than others, Maurice can give and take it.

Erie, Pa.,
Tuesday, Oct. 25, '38.
Ran the U.P. for the New York Central people today. Davenport, Wardwell and others being here and I guess everything went well. At any rate Davenport knocked off at noon and went golfing with Totten. Bill Hamilton was notably absent and I wonder from things I hear, if his star is not waning. His department prepares elaborate specs for the diesels as before and Williamson bags E-M standards.
Jay Walker here and says Jim Bracken had another operation on Oct. 17th in New Haven and died Friday. His mother, nearly 80, knew what was wrong, but they say Jim didn't. He must have suspected though.

Bab brought home her first report of the new year - 4 A's and all the rest B's! She is good all right, and getting plumper and prettier day by day.

Willie had her bridge luncheon today and I guess Mother met all the girls. At any rate she seemed in much better spirits today and tonight we all went to see Clark Gable and Myrna Loy in "Too Hot to Handle" a screwball melodrama about news reel photographers that was a wow! Myrna didn't look up to par and it may be she is pregnant - she had that sort of a drawn look in the face.

Mrs. Larson stayed with the children and Sporty came in when we got home. Sporty exhibited her talent for manicuring Mrs. L's nails, snipping them off as evenly with her teeth as a manicurist with a file or scissors.
