ping-pong table and really make something out of it. It would be a short step from the way it was tonight to a real job and at no cost except for the ping pong table.

The party lasted from 7 to 8:30 PM but that had Willie about exhausted as the boys got pretty wild. There were 6 boys and 6 girls including Bab and Rog. But the party was a great success. Among others, Mssrs. Burt and Fryling came for their boys, the first time I had met either of them.
Penn State, the team that was rated among the poorest, trounced Syracuse today 33 to 6, so again the bubble of a good Syracuse team is shattered. Last week Michigan State trimmed them 19-12 but that wasn't so bad. Today was hopeless!

Erie, Pa.,
Sunday, Oct. 30, '38.
Rather a dull day, hanging around the house most of the time doing odd jobs, cleaning up the cellar, etc. Went for a ride around the Peninsula this afternoon and it is still pretty out there but the brilliance is gone. Today it was cold and windy. Back in town we cruised around looking at houses, thinking where we might move and wishing we might buy or build. But as I see it, the latter is not very near right now. Some day I hope we can, but not for two or three years yet. We are saving at least $1000 a year now in insurance, Investor's Syndicate, Social Security, G.E. Pension Trust, Savings Bank, etc. But I don't want to cut into any of that to buy a house. We've got to have a real cash stake someway and the most likely seems to sell the Louisville property. But when, nobody knows. Willie hasn't suggested to Irene she take over Willie's share and I doubt if she does suggest it. So, that's that for the present.
