as Bab & Rog were both home today with minor colds they looked a bit shoddy. So the Old Gent posed. It was Kodachrome A. I want to check the results as the exposure table calls for f.2.7 or f2.8 but our Filmo is 1/40 sec. shutter speed against 1/30 for the Cine's. Theoretically, if f.2.8 is enough with 1/30, then f.2.5 should be right for 1/40.
Took the leap and ordered a ping-pong table today to put in the basement and be the nucleus of our proposed "recreation room" adjacent to the wash tubs. We can get a lot of good exercise out of that this winter when we need exercise.
Had an interesting commentary on the New Haven report. We wanted Faron to give Mackay a copy. Ralston refused. He felt the report was a trifle [[underlined]] optimistic, [[/underlined]] and he wanted to give Mackay less than we recommended because he felt the operating bunch would do more. Maurice is the one who shoved me up and that's why Ralston thinks it's optimistic.

Last night after writing this journal, I had a complete reversal of form on the plotting question, hit upon the idea of not one story, but a whole series based on a girl engineer starting off with the G.E. at Erie, going through test, getting into the engineering dept., and working out on railroad jobs. I was so enthused over the idea, a new one I think, that I felt pepped up 1000% since Thursday night's discouragement. So I think I'm off on something promising and want to work up some plots on it PDQ.
There is one tendency at the office I've got to stop - that is the trend I have toward criticizing other people, talking about them such as Rudy to Jake, of Jake to Rudy, of Jake to Perk, etc. It has got to stop. It's a damned poor policy and can only result in getting enemies.
