Jake is generally unpopular with the people he does business with and it is largely, as I get it, because he "runs wild" and wont work [[underlined]] with [[/underlined]] them. That is one of his faults. He is a [[/underlined]] one man [[/underlined]] man and that's Jake. He can't or wont cooperate with any one else. He has a chip on his shoulder. Whenever you ask him a question, he looks at you as though you were about to throw a knife at him. I actually dread trying to get any dope out of him. I've about given up on that and I know Perk has. And yet Jake has many good points. He's a hard worker, and outside the office, he's a very pleasant chap; I enjoy him in a friendly poker game or other diversion of a similar nature.

Ainslay had a good stay. It seems Wanamaker of the Rock Island has always ired Weber of the Burlington. Weber never admitted Wanamaker had anything on the ball at all. But recently, Weber was telling Ainlay what marvellous results he was getting with a new lube oil filter - the oil looked better after long operation than when he put it in. Ainlay informed Weber that Wanamaker had done a good job on that filter. Weber said, "Why Wanamaker didn't have anything to do with this filter!" Andy - "Well, maybe he didn't, but he collects $2.00 from the filter company for every one of these you buy for your engines." Weber, smiling in spite of himself - "The hell he does!" Weber had to admit Wanamaker really had something this time. Wanamaker, it seems, had developed the filter himself, collected a royalty on every one sold. 

Bab has received an invitation to "Mrs. Hubbel's Dancing Class," [[underlined]] the [[/underlined]] class of Erie and we are going to send her. It will be a good thing for her and will fill
