Rog has been sick in bed all day with a cold but it isn't particularly bad so we aren't worrying about him. He is a good little invalid, sits up in bed and amuses himself with one thing after another.

Tuesay, Nov 22, 1938.
H.L. Andrews here yesterday and today making headquarters in Maurice's office. When H.L. wants anyone in the office he simply yells for them. [[underlined]] "WALTER!" [[/underlined]] he bellows for Harris. When Walt appears Andy says "See how well that shout wave works". He has referred to it several times as his "shout wave" system. Yesterday he and Maurice were going down to the shop. Just as they were leaving Maurice's office, the phone rang & it was long distance. H.L. went on and while Maurice was talking on the phone, we heard a bellow from down around the drinking fountain, "COME ON, MAURICE!" Somehow that sort of stuff rubs methe wrong way. I can't imagine either Messrs. Swope or Young acting like that. It doesn't fit a man of Andy's standing at all. I suppose he feels it makes a Tzar - some silly idea like that. But to me it makes a man who lacks something he ought to have.

Had Dr. McCallum for Rog today, and he said it was nothing serious - he could get up on Thanksgiving. They tell me that the Dr. himself looked terrible - worse than he has ever looked. He explained he had just had an operation - didn't say for what but as he had had it only a few days ago, couldn't have been a major one.

Put on a movie show for the Colonel tonight and the more I see of this projector the better I like it. It makes dark films which were almost indiscernable on Don's machine, brighten up and be fairly good such as the pond scene at Shanty Shave and the G.E. picnic at Cash's farm last year, in which was Jim Bracken unaware that a year hence he would be dead of something he had even then. Life is an uncertain thing all right. Any of us may be on the spot and not know it.

They tell us they can have the Port Everglades locomotives if the Company will OK the credit iteration. So Jake's trip South is producing results. We laugh at Jake but by jove we have to give him credit. We just got an order for one locomotive for Pike's Peak, another of his propositions - the one Bob Banell went to Colorado on. Bob is another that comes in for a bit of criticism but he seems to be able to produce the goods on occasion too.
