I wrote a letter of transmittal for Maurice to sign in sending out the literature to the Districts for the industrial diesel-electric campaign. Perk & Jake read it and forwarded some suggestions. Last night Maurice showed it to H.L.A. for his okay. Andy evidently thought it pretty good. He asked "Did you write this, Maurice?" Reply: "Hell no, Andy. I couldn't write that. Craton and Perk wrote it, Craton mainly." So I guess that raised my stock a half a point or so with the Boss.

Maurice says I'm to go to Boston next Tuesday night. Maurice was going with me to launch the small diesel campaign but Andy told him to stay in Erie as long as Cash is away. So I go alone. Aim to make some diesel-electric surveys in the B&M and the B&A with Tom Sawyer as well as do some small loco. work so it looks like I wont be back until Xmas. The B&M may take us to Portland, and with winter here! Is it going to be a cold job! But Maurice indicates I'm still slated for Frank Kroner, so maybe a trip to Florida will materialize after the first of the year to compensate. Now I'm going to have a chance to show what I can do, and I'm going to give it all I have.

Today is Willie's 36th birthday. We had no celebration particularly but did have a nice time all here together. I am getting where I would just soon let my birthdays pass unnoticed.

Walt Scarborough is promoting a poker game for Friday night so now I'm sure the party Monday made a hit with him even though he lost about $1.50.

Had a ping-pong session in the basement this evening, the Colonel participating in three or four games and not at all bad at it. He certainly has a lot of pip for a man around 65 years old. Willie's game is improving fast. She almost took me over last night and I was putting all I had into the game.

Had a good Thanksgiving today with Rog up again and down to dinner with us all though not yet 100% okay. We do have a lot to be thankful for. I realize it every time I stop to think and I realize how little I, at least, appreciate it most of the time. To fully appreciate
