tonight and work back to Boston while Harrison and I worked this territory. So he left on the 9:30 train. This morning saw Marion Anderson eating breakfast in the Manger, accompanied by two white men, presumably her managers. I was sure it was she from her pictures and saw an ad for her concert later so am positive. I was rather glad to have Tom leave and be on my own. I think I can accomplish more when working independently of Tom because he barges in so it kills my initiative. Somehow, I find it difficult to talk to Tom too; we don't seem to have much in common. I don't feel drawn to him much. To Harrison, I do and enjoy being with him. I find him very pleasant and interesting and a good talker when you get to know him.

Harrison and I started to get the Boston dope today. Ernie Bloss took us over to meet Barrett, the Terminal Division Supt. who turned us over to "Billy" Wright, Terminal Trainmaster and due to retire Jan. 1, a fine old chap, tall and thin looking something like Wm. G. McAdoo. He took us to the hump and as we were in a daze we all returned to the hotel to study the map first. Then after lunch we went back to the hump and made some sense out of things, gathering a lot of information. Wright knows every track in the territory and gave us
