He buys a lot of G.E. stuff and a funny incident was when Goggin was having "Rep" getting dope on a certain plant in Portland so he could put in diesels, thus gypping Rep out of some coal business – which however was only a drop in the bucket at this particular place. Felt better today.

Tom called me at 7:30AM and from then on it was bustle all day cleaning up over at the B&M and reviewing all our dope. We got through about 10PM and to bed early.

Jack Tobin opened up quite a bit with me today. Started telling me about the X-mas presents he was getting for his kids, and then told how this was going to be a pretty tough X-mas because his wife died last April. He has a girl 10 and a boy 6 too. He said recently at dinner, his boy said suddenly, "Daddy, the Christmas present I'd like to have most would be to have Mommy back again." Jack said he nearly choked right then. Jack is a good fellow – a sort of self-made statistician with only a grammar school education but who knows more than a lot of college people. He's shrewd and analytical and he knows his railroading when it comes to Injun assignments, and things of that sort. Tom and I are getting along very well together.
