The children let us sleep until nearly 7:30 this morning before they put on the pressure to get up and see their stockings. So I went downstairs ahead of time to get ready to take a movie of them coming down the staircase and opening their stockings. This movie I continued intermittently all day and until they were finally tucked into their beds tonight. A fade out of the X-mas tree ended the picture and I'm hoping it will be good.

Had a very nice Christmas and the children enjoyed it immensely. The Colonel seemed to enjoy himself and Mother did too for the most part although she appeared to be on the verge of crying several times for reasons I couldn't ascertain. Once she retired to her room because she told me she "knew we didn't want her down there with us", purely her imagination. Nevertheless, it was a very good day all in all. I enjoyed the new records particularly.

I mentioned the new Baldwin house on Kahkwa to Mother to see what she thought of the room & bath idea on the first floor and while she seemed a very little but dubious, she said not to let any considerations regarding her influence us in any way in selecting a home as she never intended spending much time with us again; she knew she had stayed too long this time, and in all honesty, I agree with her. She is happier elsewhere after a couple of weeks visit.
