I saw Cash about the New York Office rumor and he said he knew nothing about it but would "nose around" and see what he could find out. Of course I didn't tell him who told me this and he said he would respect my confidence in telling him about it. H.L.A. will be here tomorrow so I am hoping he'll quietly sound out the Boss.

Willie took Bab to Dr. Gannon today and he gave her some medecine that already seems to be taking hold. Tonight she had almost no trouble against plenty with Dr. McCallum's "hands off" policy. Bab looks fine and is gaining weight so I'm not worrying much about her.

Maurice says I'm to go to Pittsburgh about Feb. 1 for a long session on the small industrial diesels for Joe Bryan and Rudy apparently is scheduled for Houston. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Walter Hedley crash through and upset the program.

Checked up today on the old Power Of Attorney blank for [[Mom's?]] income tax return and the man at the Internal Revenue office said it was okay but the 1938 returns wouldn't be out till Jan. 15. So when I got home, told [[Mom?]] we could take care of the Power Of Attorney blank Saturday, thinking it would please her to get it done soon. Instead she almost had a fit – said it would be illegal to do it before 1939, she lost all confidence in me when I suggested such a thing, etc. etc. And as I plan to be in Mechanicsville Wednesday, I suggested she
