good, controlled but adequate drinking, starting the party about 9PM and ending about 2AM.
As I look back on this party there was no real high spot but a flock of fleeting impressions run through my mind:

1. The attractiveness of the Collins home, the perfect job of decorating the Christmas tree, the desire to have a nice home of our own.

2. The predominance of the younger set at Kahkwa, making me realize we are approaching "middle age."

3. In spite of [[circled]] 2 [[/circled]], feeling rather young and sporty in my new tuxedo, which Maybelle spotted first as a new one and openly admired, and much satisfaction therefrom.

4. A desire to get into the swing of things at Kahkwa and the inability to do it, probably from lack of sufficient stimulation.

5. The impression Kay Williams Capps didn't look up to par and seemed to be slipping as the focus of all eyes.

6. Dr. Delaney wandering around and looking rather tired and old, and wondering why a good surgeon dares go in for drinking and late hours, especially after a bad illness.

7. Maybelle looking a little disappointed at the Kahkwa Club.

8. Walt Scarborough doing a lot to make himself the life of the party.
