Walt and his Texas twang went over very well and I have seldom seen him shine so well. They liked him; there was no doubt of it. And it developed Mrs. Libby's name is Beatrice and that, of course, hit a very soft spot in my heart. And as a result of the conviviality, we all, instead of going to a conventional eating place, went to the Coconut Grove for dinner, a very nice spot and the music [[underlined] wonderful [/underlined]]. There, purely by chance, we ran into Bee's sister and husband, and Margot Clark and brother. I met Margot a couple of years ago in New Haven, the night Bill called me out of my room at the Taft to come down into the grill room, and we wound up in Jack Weller's apartment and Margot thought it was mine!

We had an excellent dinner and I danced with "Bee" and found her to be a perfectly wonderful dancer. And the more I got to know her, the more I liked her until all doubts were dispelled as to why Bill married her. She told me, among other things, about her mental agony with this exema trouble, and how a week ago, it had her down so terribly, she actually thought of suicide; she was a drag on Bill, etc. etc. The poor youngster! I was so desperately sorry for her. And tonight, thank heaven, she was out to celebrate. She had found her trouble, and was at the start of a new life again. I realize now, she is a very, very pretty girl when her complexion is normal. And her dancing is a dream! I have never enjoyed a dance more than that second
