missing, and I was getting very worried, he had my ticket, and I hadn't enough money to even get out of the hotel, and the train left at 7 PM, waiting for nobody. At 6:40 Walt hadn't arrived yet! But about 6:42, he called me; had been hung up at the "El," just got in. At 6:47 we checked out, at 6:50 we were at South Station, and on the train with minutes to spare. But I could see myself stuck again for a while there!

Had a good dinner on the diner, then repaired to the Club Car to watch the patrons juggle drinks against the hitches, bumps and jerks imparted by the horribly rough roadbed of the Boston & Albany. At one juncture, a tall glass of beer gave up and flopped its contents neatly across the aisle.

To bed early, glad to be on the way at last.

Last night I wired Maurice to get Felix lined up for a lone stand at the AIEE in New York Monday, and not having any reply today, assume I'm going to be able to get out of going there Sunday night. I may be passing up some "fame" but I just can't see going there under the circumstances.
