Went to a reception at the Brauns this evening for Roy and Zelma Sjoberg. Zelma is leaving Erie in about a week. There were 150 people invited and about the whole engineering department was there. Zelma looked awfully tired and sweet as ever. Somehow, it shocked me how she looked - right on the verge of looking middle aged- because she was so tired, I guess. Somehow, I've often wondered how happy she really is.

After the reception, went to the Scarboroughs for poker with them and Barbara and Charlie. Walter has gone heavily for poker lately. Tonight in his characteristically, ^[[thorough]] way, for Barbara's benefit he brought out a board on which was mounted a sample of each poker combination in a complete hand of real cards. We had good fun, even though Barbara and Charlie were pretty slow because of inexperience. The next time it will be still better.
