Boston, Mass. Wednesday, May 24'39. Rogie's seventh birthday and here I am. I wish I were in Erie where I ought to be today with him. But it seemed like it was right to come over here all things considered and here I am. We didn't do much today but talk over the situation and tomorrow Neil Donovan and I go to Providence and get to work. I had a bad headache all day for some reason - maybe the fresh paint in John LaJohn's yesterday - so Neil and I went to the ball game this afternoon to get some fresh air. and saw Cleveland wallop the Red Sox 6 - 2. Had dinner at the "Hide Away" on Boylston Pl.- a back alley joint but good food & good people. Back to hotel for evening & to bed early. Head better tonight but not 100% yet. My cold seems to be much better however. Boston, Mass. Concord, N.H. Thursday, May 25, 1939. Neil stopped for me about 9 AM at the Parker House and we drove to Saylesville, R.I. right outside of Providence over U.S. 1, a beautiful 4 lane highway all the way. Countryside beautiful with spring - much wild, forest country with the fresh pale greens and reds and browns of new leaves- lovely day
