Erie, Pa.
Sunday, May 28'39.

Had a domestic sort of day, the high spot of which was the first picnic of the spring season. It looked threatening in the northwest when we left about 11:30 AM so we drove south and escaped most of the storm but a corner of it caught up with us as we were finishing our picnic down near Waterford on a super - super back road. But it was a lot of fun. We stopped at Sterrettania on the way home for "Choco-Pops" and large stones for the terrace at the new home. It was a hot day and the "Choco-Pops" got pretty unmanageable - and then when Willie finally had disposed of hers at risk of dress etc. she discovered she had drawn a "free" one. Needless to say she didn't examine the privilege. But we all had a great laugh including Mother who seemed to enjoy herself a lot. The usual "animal game" went to 130+.

I spent an hour this evening trying to calm Mother's worries about various things - mainly the question of changing our address. Somehow she could see no way of avoiding it appearing she is a "citizen of Erie" when we notify the postman. I did my best to calm her fears but it didn't seem to have a great deal of effect. I tried to be calm and patient and although not perfect, I think I did a better job than usual in that respect.
