A wild day of shopping and preparing for the entertainment of Scarboroughs, Reeds, James and Collins tomorrow night. Neither the Lambdins nor the Harrises can come because of pregnancy in both cases!

We stopped in MacDonald's for a few minutes this afternoon for an "At home." Rog is still confined to the sofa with a cough but he is in high spirits and loves to entertain the family by reading aloud - anything - and it's amazing what he can read. He takes a whack at any word, no matter how big, and the results are often side splitting.

Was busy all day preparing for tonight's party which turned out to be a real wow after we had hoped and wondered if it would flop or not. All were on deck at 9:30 PM and Walter Scarborough had the egg nogs ready shortly thereafter. He made them himself, bringing all the paraphernalia even to their electric mixer, and they were delicious, getting the party off to a smooth start accompanied by Grace Moore on the Ford Hour. Then Walter busied himself making whiskey sours. From the time they were imbibed, the party really got going and developed into one of the most hilarious affairs I have ever seen. Everyone except Rosamond James let his or her hair down good & proper. There was singing, dancing, kissing, drinking and general high jinks until 1:00 AM, when Bill Collins, a veritable tank, was in the state of knowing he had all he could handle and broke up the party by announcing he had to go to Chicago tomorrow night and must quit.
