blackberry cordial was all he dared take. When we parted, they were all very cordial, invited me to a session in Cleveland any time I should come over. In spite of "Shap's" condemnation of the price, I hope we sell these things and get them off the records.

Again I left off my glasses today and felt perfectly okay.  Even the 5 drinks didn't bother me, so I believe I have the answer.

At lunch today, Shap talked for quite a while on his earthquake experiences in 1932 or whatever it was in California, and I found him both funny and entertaining. Seeing Shap in action with customers begins to make me see why he impresses them better than his own cohorts. He can be very cordial and pleasant. Sometimes I think he's a bit ingenuous, but that is simply amusing.

Was downtown all the morning doing errands, getting glasses adjusted, etc. Phoned Hoddy to give him some information and talked to his wife as he was at the office. Have never met her but would like to from her very pleasant voice and way over the phone.

When I got home, found a message to call Martignone, but when I did found he had talked to "Whitey" Wilson instead. So I called Whitey and was a bit surprised to be told he was at lunch and would I leave my number. It seemed a little exaggerated at first thought, but I imagine he is bothered so damned much at home, he has to do that to eat a meal in peace. He called back shortly to say Martignone
