Sunday, Oct. 15, 1939.
Mother went to St. Paul's to church this morning and reported favorably on the service, the congregation, the music and the Dean. We are thinking seriously of trying St. Paul's. We must get back to church and Sunday School for the children and the Unitarian Church here simply doesn't seem to fill the bill.
This afternoon we took a nice walk on the Peninsula, lighthouse to Misery Bay, enjoying the cool, sunny autumn day, the color, the fresh air. Going onto the peninsula, two deer rushed across the road ahead of us - way up near Waldameer - the second time I've ever seen deer out there. Well, I recall the time Perk found one in his garage.

Am reading Daphne du Maurier's novel "Rebecca", a wierd, morbid, spooky thing that grips you and wont let you stop. First novel I've read in a long time and a revelation as to how much pleasure there can be in it.

Got speed-timing in some earnest on the S.P. today. "Doc" got back and relieved me of the Ford work for which I was grateful. The B&M demonstrator kind of blew up in my face today as I feared it would. "Whitey" tells me they have sold the two remaining stock. 43 tonners and the B&M can have one in 9 weeks - mid December. I told him Roy Goggin said Knight had promised French, B&M president, a demonstrator in October. "Whitey" then took notice, wanted to know why
