We went down to say hello to Frank Faron, now Asst. Mgr. of the Industrial Dept, N.Y. District, and old Frank was jovial and individual as ever. He talked to us like a "Dutch uncle" about the New Haven - he advised avoiding any attempt to get a commitment out of the New Haven on a 43 ton demonstrator.

Jay seemed particularly like himself again and says his niece from S. Dakota is living with him and working in Arnold Constable's at New Rochelle - says she's a pretty, jolly, smart youngster and came to see N.Y. at first, but got this job and now probably will stay. She takes charge of the apartment for him and it must make things a great deal happier and more cheerful for him.

Our conference with Bill Hamilton lasted all day. It was attended by Jay, myself and McDonald and Rogers of Cummins, the latter Cummins Eastern Manager, a young, dark, rather Spanish looking fellow who seemed to know his stuff pretty well. Lee Beyerl assisted Bill. We reviewed the N.Y.C. Spec. completely, pointing out exactly how we complied or didn't. We had trouble only on the 100 ft. radius curve coupled to a standard car. I'll have to go back at Spike on that and find a way to do it.

After the session, Jay and I had a private session with Bill who advised we are $2000 high and he thought if we could shave off $1000 we would be all right. There are 2 or 3 more of these locos. to come later and I feel we ought to take this job although there are a flock of diesels coming up with Alco and Walter Hedley isn't too much for putting up
