think he saw Shreve in Sch'dy. this weekend wouldn't be surprised if he had already popped his plan to him. As I was away Tuesday and Henry today, this week didn't turn out very well for our rendezvous. I told Whitey, I'd jack Henry up next week. He said he did advise not doing it Monday as Henry is in Schdy over the weekend and will have a terrible hangover Monday.

Neil Donovan wired in that Jon Anderson has approved the B & M demonstrator deal and the requisition will be put out Monday, and he and Ernie will stop here next Friday on their way back from Chicago. Whitey says it looks too bad now; Lehigh Portland has ordered one and the Navy wants the other on 30 day shipment. But there's an MO for 5 more now and I can get the first one of those at worst which I think will get by.

The shop let me down horribly on the 3rd Republic locomotive which they promised for today with #[[strikethrough]]3[[/strikethrough]] 2, which will go out on schedule. They let Metz keep the 3rd for a week in Bldg. 60 to help switch the Paulista and save a little money by not having to call the East Erie, and then they find it has 5 leaky radiator sections they can't repair and it will delay it at least a week to get new sections from Young at Racine. I told Martignone and he was fit to be tied. After a half dozen telephone calls, we finally decided to hold it until we could fix it up right and not ship it with a patched up, no good job. Disco was pretty independent about it at first but before he got through he just about "said uncle" and admitted they had botched up the job rather badly for us. And Marti seemed resigned finally. But it was a damned embarrassing mess.
