I had to smile to myself today at Rudy. I've been working like hell on this job for the better part of 2 weeks and Rudy took a total of not more than 5 minutes on it including looking at the results. But Rudy calls in Whitey to look at the chart and Rudy did all the talking. It seemed to me it would have been more appropriate if he had let me tell Whitey the story. It was so obvious that Rudy wanted to impress Whitey with his knowledge of the job. Rudy says now, we'll [[underline]]send[[/underline]] this story to Alco. Before, we were to go down and discuss it with them; the same tack with Alco he did with Whitey, he'll cover the job on one of his regular trips to New York and I'll be out in the cold. I'm not accusing him of this but I wouldn't be surprised if it panned out this way. And the trip to the coast hasn't been mentioned again. Maybe I'm doing Rudy an injustice but I can't help noticing all this and I see nothing wrong in recording my thoughts in here; I wouldn't tell anyone this naturally.

Heard today that Mrs. Macloskie died very suddenly of a heart attack. They live in Princeton now. I remember their home in the old early Erie test days so well and with much pleasure. Am sorry to hear this sad news.

The office was agog for some reason over the news Appleby has a baby. It doesn't seem like long since she was married but time flies so fast it's probably all okay. The last time I saw her she didn't look that way, and it wasn't so long ago so it seems. Well, its fine anyhow. I'm not surprised at this quick work. "Apple" was the type to inspire quick and aggressive action along that time-honored line.
