Willie and I went up to the Scarboroughs for a sausage and waffle supper tonight. Maybelle is back from her trip to Texas to help her ailing sister, having flown both ways. Had a good bridge session. Walter was in a good mood and I heartily enjoyed the whole evening. I do hope that he and Maybelle can be happy and normal together again because when they are they are a grand pair. Walt is enlarging and tinting some of this photographs and doing some very fine work on it. Maybelle is raising a female cocker puppy and plans to raise cocker puppies. She still has Barry to sire the pups. She has a flock of love birds too - something like Cousin Abbie or Cousin Kate. It is too bad Maybelle has no children. I think that would make a big difference in her way of life and her relations with Walt.

Still worrying some about the GT-550, I finally phoned Dick Lamborn today and reviewed the situation with him. He was inclined to feel it would be okay - the GT500 should stand it occasionally and he wants to learn why the GT550 commutation isn't up to snuff. So I felt better.

Mother seems very restless and upset lately. I am scarcely alone with her that she doesn't start worrying or complaining about something. I shouldn't but actually I dread being alone with her sometimes. It is always a long torrent of complaint, criticism, worry, fear that leaves me helpless to answer without adding impetus to it usually. She isn't well or strong - that's the answer but it is hard.
