This evening we went to the Chapman's and thence to the Luthers to a surprise party for the latter and they were amazed to open the front door to see nine couples instead of the one they expected. I had a perfectly atrocious time at bridge - bum cards, over bidding, being set terribly, no meshing with partners, poor bidding. Willie and I got the booby prize thanks to me - and the Hoppers got first prize thanks to me - I contributed a cool 3000 to them in two hands by overbidding, being doubled & set! But it was a nice party and I had a good time in spite of all. Hope I learned a bridge lesson or so!

Mother, Bab and I took a nice little "exploring" ride this afternoon, finding a beautiful little stone church complete with the Stations of the Cross, which I never knew existed around these parts.

A dark, foggy, drizzly day - all day. We ventured out late in the afternoon to see the X-mas lights downtown and en route home stopped at Carr's for some groceries. When we came out, the battery was dead. So I stumbled down to Ray Felbinger's through rain and mud and he came up and gave us a push. In return, I purchased a new battery.

At last, I finished the match box screen today and afterward wondered if it was worth all the effort. If our friends get any fun out of it, maybe it is - time will tell.
