Lockwood flew in from Buffalo this morning with Beaumont and Boyd, a couple of Hanna Furnace men and Whitey handed them over to me to talk diesels. That upset all my plans to go home for lunch and get a haircut for the Griswold Club tonight. They left about 2:30 PM, and Whitey soon called me to say I had got him in a hell of a mess by telling Dick Lamborn of Bill Hamilton's scheme whereupon Dick called Whitey to ask if he should study the scheme and Whitey told him yes. Rub: a few days ago Whitey had promised A.J. Woodward that none of the 4th floor gang would deal directly with the Motor & Control Divisions but only through the Loco. Div. It was a new one to me and of course, the funny part was that Whitey had done it himself by giving Dick orders. So I went down and held Barrell's hand for a while and got them smoothed over.
