X-mas, Monday, Dec. 25, 1939.

A very busy and happy Christmas. Rog felt pretty well, and I set up his new Lionel train on our bed next to his old crib, and he (and I) played with it much of the day. I can well understand how people can go nuts on model railroading after seeing this outfit in action! I got a peach of a new brown suit from the Col. we all gave Mother a little radio like Bab’s - and that was on the Fritz! So the G.E. store gets two black marks! Had roast beef for dinner [[underlined]] but [[/underlined]] a quart of champagne which livened things up a lot. Also I relieved Mother’s mind by sending a letter to Ned Van W. and a check for $10. It was a nice day all around in spite of Rog’s disability. Intended to take movies but positively never had time to even load the camera - it was something every minute from 7 AM, (when Rog insisted on leaving the alarm set) until bedtime.

Getting back into harness isn't bad when you are busy on [[strikethrough]]t[[/strikethrough]] interesting work. We had a session on the tank educational order invitation this morning and as a result I must go to Cleveland for another session with Lt. Col. Blackmore this week. Next week it will be Washington again! Today St.L. to my surprise, gave me his whole 5"/38 gun mount folder to read – the old boy is really loosening up now.

Got into a session in A.J's office later to discuss the 43 ton loco situation – what to do about broken siderods and axles. They seemed about
