Delaney reported further improvement today and my throat felt much better. I went to the office after lunch, thereby missing only one half of a business day on account of the throat. I felt pretty well washed out today however - no ambition - I felt in a terrific lethargy that couldn't seem to snap out of. Clarence Bailey is taking my Sales Training period tomorrow for his talk and I am to take his time Friday so that worked out all right. Saw Whitey for a few minutes - guess he didn't think there was much wrong with me until I told him I had been taking sulfamilamide and then he pricked up his ears. On the way home with the gang, when I said I had a streptococcus throat infection, A.J. and Cain both said, "Well, if you have that, you ought to be home in bed." It sounded as though they questioned whether I had it or not and the tone was so superior and self complacent, it irritated me some.

Mother now plans to leave Wednesday and I have said simply that I cannot take the chance of making the trip doubly hard by stopping en route with her at Syracuse. I know she doesn't like it but also I know the main reason for her wanting me to go with her is so I can register for her and she wont [[missing apostrophe]] have to put down "1022 Oak St.," I don't feel so terribly about it. We had Ben & Tony in this evening as sort of a farewell party for Mother and really had a very good time in spite of me being a semi-invalid theoretically at least.

Getting well again after a bad scare. I face the future with more anticipation than in a long time, knowing that I know what counts for happiness.
