the points I worry about will give no trouble and if anything does, it will be unforeseen. And one has the privelege of ignoring anything if necessary. So, what the hell! Why worry!

Went out to the Peninsula this afternoon & the children skated. I did't take my skates but wished I had after I got there - it looked good. But how cold we got! And Bab was complaining of the heat! Wanted to take something off! 

This evening we went over to see Ben and Tony for a bridge-music-laugh fest - okay as usual.

Monday, Jan. 22, 1940.
Our thirteenth anniversary and more than ever I feel our marriage is a success. We have the children - a great pair - harmony, understanding - about all a couple could ask for. We are going to do our celebrating at Cleveland next weekend with the Reeds and Scarboroughs. Tonight I am off for Sch'dy., New York, Boston and North Adams after a day packed with activity to get ready. Col. Earle was to get in on the 3:22 plane but was grounded at Syracuse so didn't arrive  - if he had I would have been completely out-of-luck as I could scarcely get cleaned up as it was. Was off on the 8:55 for Sch'dy. and hope this time I don't pick up another bug.

Enjoyed a brisk walk down to the Works this morning in the sun and under a blue sky and the hills of the Valley lying under a white, sparkling blanket of snow. Noticed my ears began to tingle and found the mercury was at 8° above on Erie Blvd. - never
