Mac had a sleepy Tom cat in his office who was in a lethargy most of the time, sleeping on desks, chairs, laps- the last I saw of him he was asleep in a file basket. They told the story of the time he was asleep on someone's lap in the office when a big rat came in and paraded around the office. The cat eyed him with no interest so the rat got bold and proceeded to drink the cat's milk. That was too much! One leap and the rat was no more!

After a clean-up, Andy and I had dinner at the Richmond Grill. Andy is a bachelor, helping support his father and mother - father 82 and worked steady in shipyards until he was 75! Andy has been with the G.E. 23 years but can't be over 40. He confessed to me he wished he were married - the old folks would be gone soon and then he'd "be living out of a suitcase all the time."

Andy put me on the "Minute Man" for Troy. The only item of interest on the trip was a girl who got on at Hoosick Falls and I felt like Ed Kelly when he said, "Isn't she pretty! Look at her leg!" She was tall and graceful and her legs were the kind you could worship, tapering down into fur trimmed arctics. Yes, I did look at her face and it was rather pretty too, and her hands were long and slender and graceful and no red finger nails either. I kept her in sight until she finally disappeared somewhere in the Albany Station. Went up to the Ten Eyck and dawdled over a bottle of Ballantine's ale for an hour and watched the gang come and go - nothing particularly interesting happened, so I kicked off to the station and finally boarded #21 at 11:12 and was asleep before we passed West Albany Shops.
