The upshot of that was I didn't do any of the things I intended and was down at the office until 7 PM with Bill and his entourage arguing about the 70 ton job. We had dinner about 8 PM at the Laurence. After we had got Bill off on the 9:18, Bob Barrell with Dan Worth of Cummins, drove me home, dropping off Ken Wolf and Harold Ogden en route. As Dan was going on the 11 o'clock train, I asked him and Bob in for awhile and we had a pleasant visit during which I showed some of my colored movies. I figured it was a good chance to get acquainted better with Dan, who I have known slightly since 1926 when he was a service man for Winton. And it seemed to work that way very well.

Today I accomplished most of the things I had planned to do yesterday. Jay Walker stayed over from yesterday's conference. This noon he and I went downtown for lunch at the Den and I ran him out to the cemetery where he wanted to look at the new marker they had just put in at Ruth's grave. I am happy to say that Jay seems fully like himself again and looks and acts well. This evening I went to the Foreman's Association banquet which was honored by the presence of Mr. C. E. Wilson. I felt my being invited was a good omen because there were only section heads present from our department except Wayne Lynch and me. Of course, Whitey was there, and it was he who lined it up. Was at a table with Harry Adair, Jack Brightfelt and Geo. Dean. Sat next to Harry and got an immense kick out of him.
