to reports like that too, got mostly B's on her first report at Gridley and I think she felt a bit sad - but she'll come up - I know she will when she gets the swing of things down there.

En route to Boston,
Tuesday, Mar. 19, 1940.
A day of odd jobs getting ready to go back to Boston tonight. Thought Roy might wire and call it off but he didn't, so here I am en route back to the Hub. Ken Wolf blew in this morning and we had luncheon at the Den. Frank Guillot is on a New Orleans vacation so I spent quite some time this afternoon trying to get Ken satisfied. Jack Harris, who is usually hard to handle with Frank around, was quite jovial and cooperative in spite of certain changes requested in the fuel tank and piping. In anticipation of a hard trip, I am retiring early for plenty of sleep.

Woodsville, N.H.
Wednesday, Mar. 20, '40.
Neil met me at South Station and we spent the morning at the office prior to taking the "Ambassador" at 12:30 PM for Woodsville. J.W. Smith's private car - 777 ("the 3-7's") was hooked on when we boarded but he didn't know we were on this train, so we didn't ride in the 3-'7's. He told Roy later we should have come back and ridden with him - a lost opportunity to ride in a private car! We lunched in the Canadian National lounge car - observed Rule G strictly. It was nice to have Roy Goggin along with us at last - we've been wanting to have him ever since we started this junketting around New England. Arrived at Woodsville at 5:40 PM
