We told Tom Knight the whole story and asked him to see French [[strikethrough]] Wednesday  [[/strikethrough]] tomorrow, try to get him to buy five four-motor jobs and assist us in selling Tarzan Jr., and he agreed to do it. Looking back now, I can see that J.W. tried to be decent about the whole thing - he couldn't encourage us and he doesn't want Tarzan Jr. for good reason. After we left Tom Knight, Roy and I went to Durgin Park for a bite and later went out to a rural inn for a real lobster dinner. We did nothing but talk, talk, talk, in circles. We finally gave up and drove back to town and I got to bed about 11:30 PM after stopping to say hello to Marion at Roy's place. When I got back to the hotel, I could see I was making much ado about nothing - I could see this was an opportunity to prove my metal - an opportunity to have an experience which will be a valuable one - and after all, if the worst should happen and we should lose this job, I was comforted by the thought that many a better man than I has lost jobs at one time or another. So, philosophizing to myself I finally went wearily to sleep.

Tom Knight reported French is in Washington back tomorrow so a date was made for Tom to see him in the morning. We spent the day in the office and had another session with the shrewd Yankee, Tom, ex-Tufts All-American end, and decided there would be no merit in getting too tough tomorrow.
