Got the Arsenal story from Jake (Picatinny) and found we hadn't taken exception to the brake lever ratio on Picatinny when we should have! Called Roy and gave him an up-to-the minute story on it all so we don't miss any bets. Also Whitey said Seybolt, the Contracting Officer, told him Col. Case could buy Tarzan Jr. outright if he wanted to & how. I passed that on to Roy. Later Roy called to say "J.W." was now thinking about the Hercules engine (apparently Phil Hatch to Ernie Bloss) and Roy wants an alternative on that! I was just getting a good start with John Downie & John Aydelott on things when that bombshell fell on me, making things more complicated. Interspersed with all this was a conference on .50 calibre machine gun mounts for the Navy, reading my mail, odd jobs, and a one hour session with St. L et al including Whitey on what to do with this hot potato ACF tank spindle job. We finally decided to stick it out to the bitter end and take our medicine. Whitey, as usual hitting the nail on the head, said they wouldn't have to explain why they didn't farm out the job after they found it was almost too hot to handle, but why in hell they ever got into such a mess in the first place!
