no generator for it and that would mean locomotive shipment in 8 to 9 months - a great handicap. Moreover the engine is no more conservative than the Cummins which they are balking on. So I see not much hope of using this on the B & M and in fact doubt if they would want it, knowing all the facts.

Whitey informed me Roy had called and said he would be here tomorrow. Whitey then inquired if I  wanted the Boston job! I told him positively no. I was inclined to worry about this at first thinking it might indicate Whitey had given up the idea of my future here but the reason is, I think , that he knows Roy will discuss this business with him tomorrow, and should Roy suggest me, he wanted to be able to say I didn't want it. Or, shrewd as he is, he may be throwing this at me just to see if I'll bite on it, worry and come to him as I did before. This latter may be the more logical explanation. One thing I definitely want to do is get this B & M business cleaned up and then flail into the gov't work in earnest and see we get loaded up. The time for action is getting close at hand. 

Speaking of gov't business, today Germany invaded Denmark and Norway, took the former without a struggle and took all the latter's important seaports with no trouble in a shrewd, lightning attack that stunned the world! It looks now like things may be about to start in earnest!

Spent a good part of today with John Downie getting well wired up in the 44 ton 4 motor deluxe job with Caterpillar engines. Upset the applecart properly when I brought up Ernie's point about wanting a throttle type controller handle. Found we have a little subway controller type handle with 5 1/2" radius turning
