wouldn't have a Cummins engine - Jake had fought for Cummins to the bitter end and apparently lost the order to Whitcomb.  Jake does strange things.  Had no word from Roy so finally phoned him to learn he didn't expect to have any conference Monday - only to contact Dave Reid himself & maybe have us over there the latter part of the week.  So another delay is injected.  It is hard to be patient - how I want us to get this order!

Babbie sick in bed with asthma.  Willie and I went over to Harding this evening to see the "Activity Program".  Rog appeared in an Indian Dance number and looked cute as the dickens in his Indian suit.

A beautiful 50°ish day with sun shining and spring in the air.  My major achievement was to polish the car.  This evening we went to the Scarboroughs to a formal dinner dance for the afternoon bridge club of the wives - eight couples - and it was quite an affair.  I had a marvellous time but unfortunately Willie didn't and she seemed to feel it was my fault for not paying sufficient attention to her.  It was unintentional on my part but the whole affair put a damper on the complete enjoyment I might have had.  Once I asked Willie, after some ping pong with Harriet Collins, to dance with me and she refused because I was "clammy".  Somehow it was an off night for her - nothing seemed to click right.  I was sorry for the whole business.  Maybe I was thoughtless - but I was wholly unconscious of any neglect while the evening progressed.  Once
