I find myself liking Walter more and more - sometimes I wonder if Walt isn't suitable timber for our Dept. Charlie Reed was quite retiring most of the time tonight - I am mystified as to just what is happening to him in the Refrigeration Dept. - the latest Refrigerator Dept. line-up doesn't mention him and moreover, he isn't in the GE. organization directory. I wonder if he is nothing but a clerk over there! There is a strange story - wish I knew it - an M.I.T. graduate kicked around shamefully. Charlie has ability - what was wrong? Someday I shall find out.

Erie, Pa.,
Sunday, April 28, 1940.
Another beautiful day like yesterday in which I made my peace with Willie. From what she tells me, I was curt, sharp, disagreeable with her last night - I have no recollection of it but she insists. That really bothers me - I hate that sort of thing!

Waxed the car today and it looks like new - wish it were as good mechanically as externally. It is beginning to take oil and the clutch is rough. I shall have to spend some money on it this spring. We took a ride this afternoon, ending at Girard for ice cream cones. Babbie is much better and up all day and on the ride with us of course - she and Rog playing the "animal game".

The allies are having a tough time in Norway and their reverses are depressing to think of! The situation casts a shadow over us. It would be tragic for Germany to win this war. Even we should not feel safe if that happened.
