realized that when Whitey is sometimes talking in his most convincing manner, he isn't always backed up by sound thinking himself. That like all humans, sometimes he wallows around and is not guided by sound logic, convincing as he may sound. I felt my stock had risen.

The pressure today to clean up all details for Monday's meeting was terrific and I felt it but Lynch and I finally got things arranged satisfactorily. It was a tremendous relief, though, to have the day wind up and I went home and spent the evening relaxed with "Life" and "Time", none too cheerful reading. We had word today that all the Island Camps are cancelled and there may be no vacations -- all presumably because the rearmament boom will require full time by everyone!

In my excitement over writing about high pressure yesterday, I completely forgot to mention perhaps the outstanding thing of the day - that it was Rog's 8th birthday. [[underlined]] And [[/underlined]] at last he has his dog - a cocker spaniel jet black pedigreed puppy, whom Rog has named "Dusky" and who is 6 weeks old and about as cute a little ball of plump silkiness as I have ever seen. We got him from Mrs. Cash Davis, who raises them, and at last Roger's dream of a dog has come true. I just hope we have good luck with him. Was up twice last night with him.

This was a day of work around the place and it was fun to be out. Bought two new tires from Ray Felbinger, having got 34000 miles and some to spare out of the two being replaced. Decided
