weren't ready to talk business yet by any means.

After a very late and very expensive luncheon at the Carlton, I hied to the office to get my briefcase and be told by Miss Gudgin my plane reservations were clear thru to Erie OK. My plane left Washington at 4:45 PM Daylight and we had an uneventful trip to La Guardia and in on the ticker - but my reservations from New York on were all balled up and for a while I thought I'd have to go home on the train from there. However I finally got on the non-stop 6:20 PM to Buffalo - one hour and fifty minutes of flight to Buffalo and thence to Erie on the "puddle-jumper" - in Erie airport at 10:30 PM. The whole trip was quite low - 4000 to 5000 ft. I judge and I had no ear trouble in spite of my cold. We had a few bumps over Elvira in a storm but otherwise it was smooth going. I had two dinners - one at La Guardia and one en route to Buffalo. I phoned Willie from the Erie airport and she drove out to get me. Mother didn't seem too upset over another air trip - so I guess I'm over that bump.

Got the boys started on the tank this morning - forgot to mention yesterday that Emmet phoned Whitey from Washington at Auburn and Whitey said go ahead. We quoted an extra for all this stuff of $280 per loco with the thought we might have

mandc: In the transcription and review business there is no substitute for a good vocabulary that includes words maybe not used for fifty years or more. Change "lied" to "heid." In this series, a little engineering and business background also helps. It also helps if you have some continuity experience with the author, his handwriting, geography, and are able to read cursive. mandc 2/3/18: I have reviewed and submitted this page before days ago. Made one minor typo change today (id to of) and Marked for Review again.
