So at last things seem actually to be shaping up and when I get back from Boston next week perhaps we can go to work on the 5/38 job in earnest and properly. I am going over to the AIEE convention and shall try to get in a little GE work with the Boston Irish to boot and may return via New York to discuss the New Haven 44 ton proposition on which I sent them quotation yesterday. Phil wrote Caterpillar engines into his spec definitely so apparently that day in New York was well spent.

I put in some time on New York Central today - Dan Worth seems to be out of the woods on his fuel stop problem but the muffler gets very hot and we have to do some shielding, relocation of cable and apparatus, etc. to lick that. Then we see clear sailing and a good job. Am anxious to see it in service.

Willie met Walt Scarborough on the street today and says he looked extremely well and very prosperous and seemed cheerful.

Bab has made up with Elizabeth Cain at last - the Davis girl has gone to camp and she seemed to be the chief trouble maker so we hope for a temporary peace.

Took the children with me out to the Works this morning to check up on the New York Central before leaving for Boston and things seem to be smoothing out on it finally. On the way home I stopped downtown to shop and ran into St.L. who admired the children and I was a very proud daddy. Bab especially looked her best - too
